BackgroundOn 17th July 1988 the Al-Hijrah Trust was formed. Its role was to address the Muslim children’s educational needs in Britain as their cultural and religious requirements were not completely met through state education. The majority of Muslims attending state schools were not receiving instructions in Islamic morals and religious matters. Education has always been linked with Islam and human development. Realising the significance of this, a small group of British Muslims led by Brother Mohammad Abdul Karim Saqib met in Birmingham, the second largest city of the United Kingdom, and formed the Al-Hijrah Trust on 17th July 1988. Our MissionA Good Word is like a Goodly Tree, Whose Roots are firmly fixed, and its branches are hight to the sky, giving it fruits at all times, with the permission of its Lord. (Al-Quran- Surah 14:24-25) “True education is the harmonious development of physical, mental and spiritual abilities”. All of Al-Hijrah’s educational establishments deliver a high level educational programme in an Islamic environment in which pupils can develop their understanding of Deen whilst achieving excellence in academics. The vision of Al-Hijrah Trust UK is to establish a better understanding of Islam and Muslims, and actively work for the betterment of society as a whole.
